Although attending Claflin Hill Symphony performances is often a special occasion, tuxedos and evening gowns are not required. Many patrons do enjoy dressing formally for these gala events, but most of the time you'll see concertgoers in business or business casual attire. Wear whatever makes you comfortable.

Season ticket holders can feel comfortable arriving 10 minutes before the concert begins, as they have assigned and reserved seats. For those who hold general admission tickets we recommend that you arrive 30 minutes prior to the downbeat, as seating is not reserved or assigned.

Many patrons arrive 20 to 30 minutes before the concert is scheduled to begin. This allows for leisurely review of the program for the evening. Ticket holders who arrive after the concert begins will be seated in the auditorium only during appropriate pauses in the music.

Recognizing that a silent environment is required for everyone's listening pleasure, we recommend that bringing children 5 years of age and older to the Symphony performances (with a purchased ticket) is appropriate.

Please turn off all cellular, wireless phones and pagers before entering the concert hall. Please also disconnect electronic signals on watches and paging devices before the performance.

The use of still, video and digital cameras or audio recording equipment is strictly prohibited at all times.

Applause at Claflin Hill Symphony performances is meant both as a greeting and to show appreciation for the artists. Just before the concert begins, after all the musicians are seated, the concertmaster takes the stage. Traditionally, patrons applaud to greet the concertmaster and again a few moments later to greet the conductor and/or soloists. Once the performance begins, you'll notice in your program book that many musical works have three or more movements or sections. A short pause often follows each movement. It is customary to refrain from applauding during these pauses. After the final movement of a work, applaud to your heart's content.

If you still aren't certain when to applaud, a good sign is when the conductor either turns around or steps off the podium. If all else fails, you can always wait for the rest of the audience to begin clapping.

Although concert length varies, most Symphony performances are about two hours, including one 15-20 minute intermission. Chamber Music performances last approximately two hours, including one 15-20 minute intermission. Family Symphony Matinee performances last one to one and a half hours with no intermission.

Homemade desserts, coffee, tea, cider and soft drinks are served for a nominal fee during intermission. All proceeds are to benefit Claflin Hill Music Performance Foundation programming and activities. Alcohol is not permitted in the Town Hall Venue.

There are two small parking lots located at Town Hall, including handicapped parking spaces. There is parking available on the street. Be careful, however, that you do not park in front of someone’s driveway, as you will be towed. There is a free Municipal parking lot located on Route 16, across the street from the Sacred Heart Catholic Church – it’s a five minute walk to the Town Hall from this lot. Heading into the Downtown District there are Municipal lots located on both sides of Main Street to the rear of the storefronts (also, a five minute walk to Town Hall from these free parking lots.)

There are several handicapped parking spaces available at the Milford Town Hall.

Yes. To enter the Town Hall, a wheelchair ramp is located at the West Side Entrance of the Town Hall. Take the elevator to the Ballroom.
